    “Gourmet Stroll” by Stéphane Lasfargue

Matter and light interplay in an invitation to sensuality and reverie
Art exhibition in the Zumtobel Centre Lumière in Paris

From January to March 2020, the Centre Lumière in Paris will host an exhibition of the work of sculptor Stéphane Lasfargue. Exploring the interplay with material and light, this exhibition called “Gourmet Stroll” is an invitation to sensuality and reverie.

    More informationLess information
COMPOSITION GOURMANDE, the highlight of this exhibition, is a work composed of 14 panels in PMMA, on which are fixed about twenty multicoloured "delicacies" in a rainbow shade. Tribute to women from all over the world in all their diversity. This work occupies a complete wall area, and is illuminated by 14 projectors creating a magical play of shadows.

Accompanying this installation, several ceramic works and a grandiose plaster sculpture are displayed in the exhibition hall.

DAMIER, organic shape of ceramic tiles in four colours red, yellow, black, gold. Placed on the ground, it follows the relief.

GUIRELANDE, multicoloured ceramic balls suspended in descending order, a way to brighten up the environment all year round.

THOUSANDS of BITS, a series of multicolored ceramic balls. Each ball is a real assembly of small pieces of clay covered with ceramic. Long realization time, high risk of implosion at the time of cooking. Each of them remains fragile despite their mass and compact shape. They fascinate, they attract, but won't they explode and spread their content around them?

OSCAR, a sculpture formed by a stack of 3 blocks of plaster, can be compared to the skeleton we used to have in our classrooms. This one was most often held in standing in a corner, observing us, subject to our stupidest jokes, but allowing everyone to discover a strange and inaccessible world. Like that skeleton from our childhood....

LE PETIT POUCET (series of 10 white plaster balls)
Like the Little Thumb that seeks its way... Small white pebbles, bigger and bigger, have been laid out to find it... Remove one, and you will be lost.

    4 SCULPTURES
These small plaster sculptures are part of a personal "dictionary". Each sculpture represents a word, an idea, like an alphabet that is built up little by little to obtain a sequence of words that can be associated with each other to compose a message.

QUEEN OF SHEBA An evocation of this mythical kingdom in the south-west of the Arabian Peninsula and of the particular architecture of the houses that protect its inhabitants from the sun's rays while preserving a certain freshness. One day, a queen lived there, and captured the heart of a wise king. l'homme…

MARTIALE RIGIDITY:  That day, I lacked inspiration and raw material... After a little trip in the trash, I came out with an empty bottle of whisky, hence this massive and straight parallelepipedal shape of an unfailing authority.

TROIS PETITS SUISSES: This was the time when my children ate astronomical quantities of multicoloured creamy cheese called petits suisses at every meal, most often three by three, opening them simultaneously and then dipping the spoon alternately into each of them...

THE CLOWN: Today the white clown is sad. He has his hat on backwards, but his eye remains sharp, open to the world, ready to catch the slightest thrill...

Zumtobel provides lighting for another company headquarters

Dynamic office for a logistics company. Trendy and modern.
    More informationLess information
That’s what the new headquarters of one of Milan’s largest logistics companies looks like. A dark 1970s building has been transformed into a modern, open and transparent complex. The main components: aluminium, glass, stone. Zumtobel was particularly inspired by the building’s large-scale use of glass when designing the lighting solution. One that combines artificial light with daylight. And that uses the MIREL evolution and PANOS infinity dimmable luminaires.

Zumtobel sponsors the exhibition « Le mobilier d’architectes, 1960 – 2020 » at the Cité de l’Architecture & du Patrimoine in Paris

Zaha Hadid's VorteXX chandelier is on display at the Cité de l'Architecture & du Patrimoine in Paris from 29 May 2019 to 30 September 2019. The exhibition "Le mobilier d’architectes, 1960 – 2020" aims to explore how architects fit into the decorative arts through the design of architectural furniture, objects and luminaires. The opening will take place on 28 May 2019 at 18:00 in the presence of Franck Riester, France’s Minister of Culture.
    More informationLess information
For 150 years, architects have been designing furniture and luminaires to complete their constructions, but unlike the furniture of the Viennese Secession, Art Deco, Bauhaus or Modern movements, the architects' furniture from the 1960s to the present day has not been studied much.
Through prototypes, unique pieces, limited editions or large series, the exhibition invites visitors to discover the furniture production of architects from 1959 to the present day.

    VorteXX
Zumtobel implemented the VorteXX lighting sculpture in collaboration with Sawaya & Moroni, following an idea developed jointly by architects Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher. VorteXX is a perfect symbiosis of organic lines and a surprisingly dynamic modulation of light colours. This impressive design is based on the vision of an infinite ribbon of light. Its charismatically curved outlines remind the beholder of a double helix and seem like a continuously flowing form – weightless, impulsive and radiant.

Zumtobel Group redesigns customer centre in Switzerland

On the evening of 27 March 2019, the Zumtobel Group opened the redesigned Light Centre in Zurich covering an area of 740 square metres. Around 200 guests attended the official opening in Thurgauerstrasse 39. The conceptual redesign of the Zurich Light Centre has created a future-oriented customer platform which conveys the experience of light in its various applications and underlines the extensive lighting expertise of the Zumtobel Group and its brands.
    More informationLess information

Light as the silent assistant in schools, offices and seminar rooms

For most people, light is not something we actively think about: It’s outside of our sphere of consciousness, something that is just there, in all of its diverse forms. However, light is an off-stage presence that plays an important role in our day-to-day lives. When used in the right way, it promotes creativity, makes a reading corner comfortable and cosy, or helps you to keep your focus during the mid-afternoon slump.
